Define terrorism !!!

Its been since 3 days that a new article got posted on this blog. I somehow could not make time for it, though I was feeling an urge to post an article. I was thinking of the happenings of the world lately. I realised that we all know what is the cause of all this trouble, terrorism. The dictionary meaning, according to WordWeb (http://www.wordweb.com/), of terrorism is "The calculated use of violence (or threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear". The definition is very clear and matches exactly with the actions of so called, Jehadis. But we also know that a definition can be inferred differently. Lets break down the above definition and verify whether the so called jehadis can be called to practise terrorism:

1. The calculated use of violence (or threat of violence) - The terrorist group are known to make a plan of action for any attack. It is never spontanoeous. They observe, track and make plans accordingly. Every attack of theirs has more voilence than threats.
2. against civilians - The terrorists' attack always against civilians. Think of any bomb blast like Mumbai, Bali, New York etc. or beheadings like Daniel Pearl. It is crystal clear that they attack the civilians.
3. in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature - The terrorist organisations keep proclaiming about their goals and always link it to their religion Islam. Various terrorist organisations have different ideologies but boil down to the same meaning. They have different flavours for the same ideology. I feel they goals are more politically linked than religion. Religion is just an excuse. Their aim is to rule over the world. There are so many religions in the world, but still Islam is the only religion linked to terrorism. If religion was the reason then there should have been various terrorist organisations preaching different religions.
4. this is done through intimidation, coercion, or instilling fear - The common man being the weakest is always the target of the terrorists. The terrorist organisations want to force the common man and compel them to their whims and fancies. Think of the ways the muslim women are compelled to do uncomfortable things in the name of religion.
All these points make it absolutely clear the the meaning of terrorism and its very apt to say that the alias of Jehadis is terrorism. Only that the meaning of Jehad has to be worded differently. The wordweb defines the word jehad as "A holy struggle or striving by a Muslim for a moral or spiritual or political goal". Any human with sane mind would know that its not at all holy.

Kindly post your feedback. They are very important for people to have an unbiased look at things.

Laugh of the day

A little boy wanted $100 badly and prayed for two weeks but nothing happened. Then he decided to write GOD a letter requesting the $100.When the postal authorities received the letter addressed to GOD USA, they decided to send it to President Bush. The President was so impressed, touched, and amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $5.00 bill.President Bush thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy.The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 and sat down to write a thank you note to GOD, which read:Dear GOD,Thank you very much for sending the money, however, I noticed that for some reason you had to send it through Washington D.C. and, as usual, those idiots deducted $95.00!

Joke of the day

A drunk staggers into a bar demanding a beer. The bartender informed him that he was not allowed to serve alcohol to drunken patrons. After a few harsh words, the bartender suggested to the drunk to prove he wasn't drunk by doing twenty push-ups on the floor. As he was doing the push-ups, another drunk staggers into the bar and sees this guy on the floor doing push-ups. He looks at him for a minute and then kicks him in the ribs saying, "Fella, I think your girl friend has gone home."

Is this the beginning of a Third World War?

The conflict between Israel and Lebanon is increasing day by day. There is pattern of groups forming. Some countries support Israel, some others support Lebanon, while others are taking no stand. Is this the beginning a third world war?
Back in 1991 the Gulf war (Operation Desert Storm) had almost lead to a third world war. The situation looks similar. Or is the third world war already going on? And we do not realise that because the way the war is fought today is different. Or is this the war against terrorism? Whatever you name it, world war, terrorism, etc., the innocent people are losing their lives in all the affected countries. Who gains by this destruction? And even if there is gain, should it be at the cost of human life?
I have understood one thing today, human values are only in the books. To the, so called, advanced human species, life has no value. We are all heading toward our own extinction. I think we are the only species in the world who are self-destructive. Think about it...and leave your comments.

Happy blogging..., or should I be happy at all?

Joke of the day

A girl asks her boyfriend to come over Friday night and have dinner with her parents. This being a big event, the girl tells her boyfriend that after dinner, she would like to go out and "do it" for the first time. Well, the boy is ecstatic, but he has never done it before, so he takes a trip to the pharmacist to get some protection. The pharmacist helps the boy for about an hour. He tells the boy everything there is to know about protection and doing it. At the register, the pharmacist asks the boy how many he'd like to buy; a 3-pack, a 10-pack, or a family pack. The boy insists on the family pack because he thinks he will be very busy, it being his first time and all. That night, the boy shows up at the girl's parent's house and meets his girlfriend at the door. "Oh I'm so excited for you to meet my parents, come on in." The boy goes inside and is taken to the dinner table where the girl's parents are seated. The boy quickly offers to say grace and bows his head. A minute passes, and the boy still deep in prayer with his head down. Ten minutes pass and still no movement from the boy. Finally, after 20 minutes with his head down, the girlfriend leans over and whispers to her boyfriend, "I had no idea you were so religious." The boy turns and whispers back, "I had no idea your father was a pharmacist."

We shall return to power - Imam Bhukari

"We were rulers here for 800 years. Inshaallah, we shall return to power here once again", were the words said by Imam of Jama Masjid, New Delhi. How shameful of him to say of our country. He stays in our country and speaks ill about our country. He is not a citizen of India. However, he should not be blamed when our government is keeping its mouth shut and not punishing him for making damaging statements. Our government is just interested in being in power till the day we lose our independence. Mahatma Gandhi helped the country in regaining. The politicians have gone blind in the fight to be in power. If they do not open their eyes now and act together, we are heading the doomsday very fast. Don't we have even a little patriotism left in our hearts? Can't we prove Imam Bhukari, that he is wrong and better keep his mouth shut in future if he wants to stay in our country? If this had happened in any other non-muslim country he would have been jailed for a long time. Can any hindu saint make such damaging statements in Pakistan or in other country? Why are the muslims keeping quite and not punishing him? They should remember that during the India's freedom struggle lots of muslim had laid their percious lives. Do they want to lose the country's freedom?

Think about it and keeping posting your comments

Investing in Stock Market today

The stock market has crashed due to rise in inflation for last 3 to 4 months. Though the market had crashed very badly (for instance, the value of ITC was above Rs.1000/share in April 2006, today it is around Rs.169/share), the mood seems to be improving. The prices had come down drastically. This is the right time to invest in shares. The prices are lingering in their lowest value. I had tracked the market for last couple of months. the market was extremely volatile. But since last week the prices are more or less stable and increasing. But not to worry. If you are investing for long term (2-3 years) you will get very good returns that no investment can give. But if you are looking for short term investment (less than 6 months), you need to keep track on a daily basis. Don't be greedy and expect the price to rise always. Take a prudent decision and sell when you think you have earned enough profit. Chances you may even face a loss.

Ask me questions, I would love to answer them...

Who is morally right Israel or Lebanon?

Today's topic is about the current situation in Middle East... the fight between Israel and Palestine/Lebanon.I feel Israel is very right, simply because Lebanon and Palestine should not have kidnapped Israeli soldiers and triggered this war. If they had lived in peace, there was no reason for Israel to be so offensive. In fact, India should have taken the same stand. If India had done this in the beginning, Pakistan would not be today threatening India of a nuclear attack. The future of India seems to be doomed. Looks like another Mohammed Bin Tughlaq rule is being imposed on this peaceful country.Coming back to the topic of Israel... Israel should teach a lesson to the terrorist encouraging countries. The very thought of encouraging terrorism should make them shrudder with the thought of the diaster that would follow. Lebanon and Palestine are going to take a long time to come back to normal state. They have to pay for it. If they had not been involved in such their normal life would not have been disrupted. Their economy would have been booming. But my question is what do these people want anyway? Why are they doing all these damaging activities?

Politicians on a Bus Accident

A bus load of politicians were driving down a country road, when the bus ran off the road and crashed into a tree in an old farmer's field. The old farmer, after seeing what happened, went over to investigate.
A few days later, the local sheriff came out looking for the missing politicos, saw the crashed bus, and asked the farmer where all the politicians had gone.
The farmer said, "I buried 'em all... out back."
The sheriff then asked, "Were they ALL dead?"
The old farmer replied, "Well, some of them said they weren't, but you know how them politicians lie."
